BookeyWook

Sara Fanelli
After making two books this year so far, (with both being not as sucessful as I would of liked) I know most definetly that I want to be making books more in the second year. I love Sara Fanelli's style, (the hand drawn approach) I think that it works really well what with the subjects that she works with, and I most definetly admire her as a designer.

Wax - Southern California (A Film By Spike Jonze)

MUSIC VIDEOS R US!!!
unfortunately i was given the video elective for this year. at first i hated it but after a few weeks i did enjoy the lessons. we were given the brief of producing a music video which I will try and get for the blog next week.
Spike Jonze is one of the most famous music directors, and this video for wax is probably one of his most famous videos. its repetitive, but it kept me watching just because of the special effects.

SOULWAX - NY Excuse

I LIKE THIS VIDEO!
i like the typography
i like the colour saturation
i like the style

The Prodigy - Smack My Bitch Up (Real Version)

This video was the biggest inspiration for me, I wanted my music video to be the same style exactly, although without the explicity. i love how this video has a twist, it keeps the viewer wanting to watch the whole video, anticipating on who is the protagonist.

The Streets - Has It Come To This?

I also love the style of this video too, similar to the prodigy, to do with how its a 'day in the life' although what i liked most was the split screen.

Phototypographygraphy

yes . yes. yes. when i was back home with my homage to helvetica thinking cap on, i was inspired to take photos of interesting typography on the streets, although this time not necessarily being of just helvetica.

I like books that make me do a book

I MADE A BOOK! for my final project, i wanted people to understand my views that hand drawn fonts are better! so i made a small book on decorative fonts. I knew that I wanted my hand drawn fonts to be
mainly pen on paper but I also experimented with objects such as jewellry and leaves.

I like books that make me want to do work.I LIKE TYPOGRAPHY.

I like typography, especially hand drawn typography thats why i chose to use it for my fmp. Although I thought i liked it a bit more that what i realised when trying to do some work of my own for the project. I was hugley inspired by both of these books. H, A homage to helvetica I loved as it was a mix of typography withing photography, with the artist Lars Muller, purely photographing the font helvetica. I would love to expreiment next year more with photography, and with the purpose of a subject similar to this one. Hand Job is most definetely one of my favourite books. A book that is dedicated 100% to hand drawn types. Hand drawn type is not always the best answer, but it is certainly the most fun.

No Domain VJ

Last year I was given the opportunity to produce some visuals for the glastonbury left field stage, and became hugeley interested in no-domain who produce visuals for many artists, here is some of their work that they produced for the sonar festival last year. I love how all the visuals look completely different from the others.

Jorden McKenzie's Splatter Art BUT IS IT ART.

A few weeks ago, JM released an exhibition of 55 canvases sprayed with his semen covered in carbon dust. A lot of modern art features excretion, mostly uninterestingly, these are slightly different. When I did come across these pieces from McKenzie, it made me question art, is it all too easy? Are people jumping on the bandwagon of whats 'cool' in art terms. Here's a link to a ''VICE'' magazine interview with JM about the outraged few who still consider this vulger.

Swine art. Cruelty or Art?

Wim Schiner is a pig-tattooing arist. The pigs are fed beer during the process and pot needling they are regularly rubbed down with sun-block, to stop blistering and burning in the sun. Again another artist who make me ask the question is this really art?

Love or Hate Tech

Two stop frame animations that I made for the love and hates of Technologys brief..... showing the love for a phone and phonecard yeah...
